Is Your County’s Recording Office Open?

It’s April 1 (happy April fools day!) and it looks like we are going be doing the COVID-19 Two-Step for the next 30 days, at least.  One of the lessons learned in the last couple of weeks is that not all recording offices recognize the critical role they play in commerce.  For example, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, not only closed its office but also indicated that no instruments would be recorded, including those e-recorded, until after the office re-opened to the public.

If you are wondering about the status of your or any other county’s recording office, ALTA has compiled data about each county:

With this tool, you can download an Excel spreadsheet for any state with details per county.
